Trusted Companion Dog Training is very excited to be able to offer our services in making your dreams come true in having a service dog. We understand having a service dog will make your everyday life so much better. Therefore, it is important that we customize each dog to your needs and the tasks that your dog will be required to assist you. Fully trained service dogs from most organization cost between $15,000-$30,000. This price makes receiving a fully trained service dog unattainable for most people. This is why Trusted Companion Dog Training decided to get involved with training service dogs. We believe in helping people and we know how much a service dog will change your life. Therefore, we want to make your dreams come true. Trusted Companion dog Training aims to reduce the cost of fully trained service dogs while not compromising the quality. Service dogs must pass public access test and task trained to assist an individual with their disability. Individuals who want assistance from TCDT in obtaining a fully trained service dog or would like help training their service dog must show proof of a documented disability.


One of the biggest tasks we have is placing a service dog with an individual is making sure that the dog and the individual are a great match for each other. We make sure the dog is able to perform the task require to help the individual disability needs but we also take into consideration of the dog lifestyle, activity level, and personality of the dog compared to yours. This is why we need to understand your personality and lifestyle in order to match you with the right dog. This if very important and we want you to be as accurately as possible. Every dog and individual are different, and we have to take each person’s lifestyle and personality into consideration when selecting the right service dog for you.


What type of service dog do we train?

Currently our trainers are trained in Psychiatric and Mobility service dog training. TCDT does plan on offering more services in the future and will attend service dog training classes to serve our client’s. Our trainers are always training and learning to keep up with the latest training and knowledge.

Common tasks for these types of service dog are the following but can be custom to the handler's needs.

Psychiatric service dogs: Deep pressure, responding to signs of anxiety, interrupting self-harming behaviors, hug, blanket, Here, Nudge, Watch my back, and Follow. Lap, hug and blanket are examples of deep-pressure therapy (DPT). Nudge is an example of disrupting anxiety or self-harming behaviors.

Mobility service dogs: Picking up dropped objects, retrieving objects, carrying objects, pulling open doors, pressing handicap buttons and turning on/off light switches to name a few tasks for mobility.

These options will depend on if you already have a dog you would like to have become a service dog or are you wanting to adopt an already trained service dog. Service Dog Training Programs Options

Here at TCDT we have develop 2 service dog training programs that will fit most clients. These options will depend on if you already have a dog you would like to have become a service dog or are you wanting to adopt an already trained service dog. Option 1: Already Have a Dog

Do you already have a dog, and have been working with it to become a service dog? If so, then one of our trainers will need to evaluate your dog and we will let you know the chance your dog has in becoming a service dog. As much as you would like your dog to become a service dog not all dogs will qualify due to many different reasons. You wouldn’t want to invest a whole lot of time and money into your dog’s training, if the dog chances are too low. (If this happens, we have other options to assist you) Ounce you and your dog have passed the Public Access Test, your dog will be put into our board and train program to finalize in becoming a service dog. This is where we will be teaching your dog the task that have been agreed upon. During your dog’s stay you will be responsible for providing your dog’s food and any vet expenses during your dog’s stay.

How our process works for your dog to become a service dog?

  • Set up in person consultation and evaluation test.
  • Dog passes initial evaluation.
  • Dog Passes public access test with handler (if dog does not Pass the test, we will provide training at additional cost)
  • Develop Tasks for dog to be trained in
  • Schedule boarding for your dog (this will be determined on the availability in our trainers’ home)
  • At this point we require a 50% deposit NONREFUNDABLE and our service dog training contract to be signed before moving to task training and for your dog to be boarded (See contract agreement)
  • TCDT trainer will board the dog
  • TCDT trainer will teach the dog the tasks
  • Timeframe 3-4mths depending on the tasks (all task/dogs are different, so time may vary)
  • When dog is ready to be placed back into the owners home the remaining balance will be due
  • Final Payment is received, then we will schedule drop off / pick of your dog
  • TCDT trainer will teach handler the commands and handling of service dog
  • Go over important ADA rights and understanding of owning a service dog

Dog Requirement

  • 10mths or older passes Public Access test

2-Hour Consultation / Evaluation / Public Access Test / Task Agreement – Cost $100

Additional cost will apply for hiring us to assist in dog training to pass Public Access Test. The cost will vary depending on how much your dog already knows and what it needs to pass. This will be discussed at consultation.

Option 2: Fully Trained Service Dog Ready for Adoption

If you are wanting a fully trained service dog from Trusted Companion Dog Training, the first step is to fill out the TCDT Service dog application. We will review your application and then schedule a phone / Zoom meeting to get to know you and your service dog requirements. This will help us find a good match for you. During the meeting you will be given a quote for the total cost of the service dog that fits your needs. When we have a dog available that has passed public access test and meets your requirements, we will contact you. At this point we require a 50% deposit, NONREFUNDABLE, and our service dog training contract to be signed before moving to custom training the dog to your needs for task training. Now that you are matched with this dog, we will be sending you updates on the progress of the dog’s training and as long as it can perform all the tasks that have been agreed too, this will be your service dog. If for some reason the dog cannot perform a task that we have agreed to, we will find another dog at no additional cost. In some cases, we will not know until we start task training if the dog will be able to perform the task required. After the trainer feels confident that the dog can perform all tasks and is ready to be placed the remaining balance is due. After receiving final payment, we will schedule the placement of the service dog. A trainer will spend a week to ensure that everyone has a smooth transition and that you know all the commands and able to handle your new service dog.
